Jane is modelling the ‘Sicily Giant’ radishes, one of the two varieties we are growing this year. We haven’t had such success with the other ones yet (‘Red Flesh’; a hardy variety so I suspect it might have been a bit warm to get the best out of them) but ‘Sicily Giant’ has been brilliant.
As you can see, they are huge but even at this size they are still mild and crisp inside. They are probably at their best slightly smaller (say, golf ball size) but we have been delighted with them. This batch is now all used up – I am eagerly looking forward to when the next set of seedlings get large enough to eat!
