After a relatively long lay-off, Jane and I broke out our copy of Pandemic earlier this week and had a most enjoyable game. The challenge is to find cures for four diseases ravaging the globe, balanced with a dwindling supply of cards and a stingy-seeming hand limit. You are constantly faced with difficult choices about whether to treat disease centres or travel to more strategic locations, as well as what cards you can afford to discard and which you must hold onto for the sake of longer term goals.
It was fraught at times but we won, with just a round or two to spare; a narrow, hard fought victory is always the most satisfying. We might even have to start playing at a higher level of difficulty than beginner!
