One of the perks of my job is that the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, where I am based, has an excellent bike shed, It is inside the building, covered, and accessible only by staff.

Therefore my habit is to leave the bike at work rather than chaining it up outside where I live. This avoids all the problems of wet and cold causing both long and short term problems with the mechanisms. I am lodging about 5-6 minutes walk away (about as far as I lived from my previous job so this seems like a good plan.

I remain very grateful that I have gone from one of the best jobs in the world to another of the best jobs in the world!
