In October 2004, National Geographic wrote:
For all its enticing quirkiness, for all its licentious pleasures, for all its geologic challenges, New Orleans has been luckier than the wetlands that lined its pockets and stocked its renowned tables. The question is how long Lady Luck will shine. [Full Article]
It turns out that the answer was “not long at all”. I wonder if spending a bit more money to follow up some of the plans would have made a difference. Probably not if it only started at the end of last year; perhaps so if it had started a few years before that and I’m sure the warnings date from before the magazine article.
Now the question is which environmental warnings will come true next? Can we do anything about those?
