Lopping

Today has mainly been taken up with lopping. A little while ago I was invited to pick up some seasoned branches from someone’s back garden and, with today’s forecast looking good, I made the arrangement.

That gave me a couple of hours in the morning, lopping longer branches down to fit in some old builders bags. Then, after driving them home, I realised I needed to get on with processing them to avoid blocking the side passage. I took a brief break from lopping to move some other firewood around and have lunch and then it was back for another couple of hours of lopping pieces down from transportable length to 6-8″ pieces that can be stored and fit in the log burner.

Consequently, my upper arms and shoulders are making abundantly clear that they have had more than enough work out for one day. Hopefully they won’t put up too much of a fuss tomorrow, when I won’t be lopping at all but I will be out for an afternoon gig in East Leake with the Charnwood Concert Band (preparing for the Christmas light switch on – playing from 3:45pm).
