Autumn Flowers

With the cider still bubbling away like a good’un, today it was time to get my latest beer into the fermentation stage. I’m making another version of Graham Wheeler’s Flowers IPA recipe and since I’ve done spring, summer and winter as tags before, I thought I’d call this one Autumn Flowers.

One difference is that I cut down the times. I only mashed for 30 minutes and the boil was brought down to 40 minutes. The original gravity I hit was a bit on the low side (1.032) but that’s the same as last time when I gave it 60 minutes at each step (my standard for a number of years now). I also used a yeast that is new to me (Høg-Norsk, from Crossmyloof brew shop), which calls for slightly higher temperatures than usual. I don’t know exactly how it will turn out but I’m pretty sure it will be beer of some description.
