Basking – stopping to enjoy literal or metaphorical warmth – is a delightful thing to do. I decided to eat my lunch in the garden today as, as this time of year, it tends to warmer outside on sunny days than it is in my studio room.
I wasn’t the only one basking. I also spotted my first Peacock butterfly of the year and another, which may have been a Comma. I also saw the first ladybird which wasn’t the result of me disturbing a sheltered spot and a wasp which, given their relative rarity in recent years, is not an unwelcome sight.
Like me, they were enjoying the sun in this equinox week and I look forward to more such visitors in the weeks ahead.
