There is a significant amount of suburban development planned in our corner of Loughborough so, over the last year, Jane and I have taken the ‘local exercise’ requirements of lockdowns to get to know some of the areas that are due to be built on. Although we haven’t been here that long, we will soon be able to look wistful and say, “I remember when this was all fields”!
Tonight I was on a social meeting on Zoom and someone was wondering our present church vicarage was built. A bit of detective work online and I found an answer. This page on Old Thorpe Acre is full of images and, if the dates are right, the answer is the 1950s. I never knew those places when they were as depicted but it is still fascinating to look at them and trace the details that have survived to the present day.
