That’s the appearance of the back garden a few days ago. Compared to last month it looks a little fuller and has a richer variety of colours. However, you can see that it is already beginning to head towards the later part of the year – for example, the Crambe cordifolia in the bottom right was a spray of white flowers in June but now stands like autumn’s skeleton, haunting the high summer garden with the shadow of what is to come.
