I discovered this morning that Google are rolling out a redesigned interface for sending a message from Gmail. It is very similar in appearance to the well-established design of the chat window, even appearing as a fixed overlay on the bottom right of the screen with the option to pop it out to a new window.

I am not sure that it offers that much that I really need but I decided to give it a spin. At some point I probably won’t have a choice about using it if I stick with Gmail and so I might as well familiarise myself with it now rather than putting off the inevitable and finding it arrives at a point when I am busy trying to balance too many other new things.
