And on my way here…

For the past few days the media has been full of images of New York bracing for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, enduring its onslaught and beginning the clear up and return to normality. There is no doubting that this city and its neighbourhood have been through some tough times from which many lives will be affected for months or years to come. However, let us not forget the places that remain in its path (eh, Canada) or the ones that suffered before its first breezes were felt in the Big Apple.

Places like Haiti and Cuba have also felt its wrath, which has been reported on sites like the BBC News but they have not enjoyed the prime-time coverage. The affected areas of the eastern seaboard of the USA are certainly places that need both our prayers and practical support at this time but so do their poorer Caribbean neighbours.
