I had another jam with Kitchen Funk Experiment this evening. I was pleased to find that I could remember most of what we did last time (to the point that sometimes they turned to me to ask how the riff was meant to go). All those years of bass playing are finally paying off!

My next two challenges are playing with Peter and the Wulf at a party on Saturday night (it has been a while since our last gig and we haven’t rehearsed since; fortunately it will be fairly low key) and a jazz jam near Wallingford on Monday evening (who knows what songs will be called? I will have to be on my toes). Of course I will have to avoid becoming complacent at church on Sunday morning; that is safely within my comfort zone for playing but I want that to be fresh too.
