I had to do surgery today. No, I wasn’t let loose with a scalpel but I did have to press my bike tools to use on my computers at work. When I came in, one of my two machines wouldn’t start. Of course, it was the more important one, the Linux box that runs a portion of the Intranet. I had to finish off a few tasks requiring Windows software in the morning and then, after lunch, swapped the power supplies round.
My diagnosis appears to have been correct as the problem was fixed although it now means I am left with only one functioning machine. Time to press forward on that request for a new computer that I have mooted but not pressed into action in the past.
