Today is the 25^th of January, Burns Night and thus my yearly excuse to sit down to haggis, neeps and tatties for dinner, washed down with a wee dram of whisky. I don’t go the whole hog, with poetry and piping, and there is always an alternative because Jane can’t stomach haggis, but I normally try to mark the day.

During the rest of the year, I have to have my haggis, neeps, tatties and drams with no excuse!
