Are handbrakes going out of fashion? I did more driving than average last week because I was on holiday near Petersfield in Hampshire (travelling to various attractions each day) and was surprised how many times I noticed people obviously juggling clutch, brakes and accelerator at traffic lights.
You can see their cars edge forward and (more disconcerting, especially if you are behind them) back. I fail to see the advantage of this compared to the proper method of stopping, applying the handbrake and putting the car in neutral. I have never been a great one for fashion anyway, so the handbrake still works for my driving.
