I stayed up late last night watching The Return of the King. Very epic although I have to admit that I found some of the scenes less gripping that I remembered. All in all though, still a very powerful film, particularly round the final theme of some journeys changing you so that you cannot go back to who you once were even when your goal has been achieved.

I wish that in the scene where Bilbo and then Frodo walk to the ship that will bear them away across the ocean, they had picked children who could walk a bit more like careworn hobbits! Mind you, I also wish that they had included the hobbits return to the shire and their victory over the fallen Saruman and that would have made the film even longer!
