Metal Remembrance

It was heavy metal guitar at the Thorpe Acre remembrance event on the green this afternoon. Not as in big hair, distortion and turning up to 11 but with my resonator guitar. It has a metal body and a built in speaker cone. There’s no electricity in the amplification process but the cone helps the sound project out, making it noticeably larger than a similar sized regular acoustic guitar.

We did the hymn Abide With Me and also the national anthem and I think it did the job pretty well. I had thought about using the double bass instead (also loud, due to the huge body) but I’ve got a tendency to fall into jazz mode when playing it and I didn’t think swing was quite the right mood for the event.
