Rehearsals will start soon for the Christmas choir at Thorpe Acre church, in preparation for the carol service at 6pm on Sunday 11 December. Getting ready for that is relatively straightforward on the music side. I have suitable parts for soprano, alto, tenor and bass singers. It took a little looking to find them but I can now get on with copying.
Looming closer though is tomorrow evening’s rehearsal with the Charnwood Training Band. I’ve suggested that the available members of the band might like to support the singers. The trouble is that I don’t know who is available and thus what instruments I am catering for. Therefore, a chunk of today has been taken up with creating suitable scores for instruments reading treble and bass clef and in concert, B♭ and E♭ keys. In one or two cases, I’ve been able to produce pieces with options for four part harmony but I decided to get to bed a little before midnight and have just variants on the melody for others.
We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.
