I’m not sure the party now led by Liz Truss should describe itself as “conservative”. In case she and her colleagues hadn’t noticed, conservative means cautious, prudent and valuing what has gone before. Her rhetoric suggests an approach that might be bold but certainly doesn’t attempt anything that might fall under a dictionary (or conservative) definition of conservative.
Perhaps they should rebrand themselves as the bold party, although I think we still need to wait for evidence that the ‘untethered from reality’ party wouldn’t be a more apt description.
