There was a heavy mist this morning, to the point of fog at points, but that didn’t put us off venturing out for our exercise. Today’s watercolour is based on a photo I took near the top of “The Old Man of Beacon Hill” (a rock outcropping I’ve noted before) and a tree on the opposite side.
The colour is a lot more vivid that the muted greys and greens I saw but I wanted to enjoy the paint rather than try for a particularly realistic representation. I’m particularly pleased with the granulation of the ultramarine blue and how I managed to exercise some control over where it settled – one of the most enjoyable pieces so far this month.
