Terms at the University of Oxford are shorter than average. End of term was on Friday just gone and so a lot of students will have gone down for the holiday. One of the consequences is that colleges of the University run their Advent services a little earlier than the ecclesiastical norm (Advent 2018: 2 December 2018). That is how we ended up in New College chapel with a friend from church who also happens to be a fellow of the college:

Yes, and out came the sketchbook. What a gorgeous building. I concentrated on the windows (perpendicular? … my vocabulary for describing cathedral architecture is a bit rusty) but there is a wealth of interest there. Fantastic service too!
