In previous years, my duties on Soul Survivor trips have amounted to being an additional responsible adult for the group but this year I was in charge of the food too. Consequently, one of the joys was spending time waiting for the kettles to boil:

It is a much slower process on a camp stove – lower heat input and a much more cooling environment – but it did prove another excuse to break out pen and sketchbook.
