Today’s watercolour painting:
I was in a hurry so decided to knock up a quick self portrait using a limited palette – ultramarine and burnt sienna, mixed to a neutral for the main painting but dropped in directly to wet areas at different points to add colour. I’m pleased with the result, which is close to the kind of loose watercolour I would like to produce more often.
Those at yesterday’s memorial service for my father (which went very well, bluegrass hymn medley and gospelled-up Amazing Grace included) and looked at the display we set up for the following reception will notice the resemblance and I’m not displeased with that either. This is one I’d have been glad to show him to illustrate my progress with the medium.
