I was pleased with the sketch I did on Sunday morning of the organ pipes at St Clement’s:
The process of creation was a blind drawing of the pipes in grey felt tip, then the wooden frame in brown felt tip and then a few minutes adding cross hatching with both felt tips and going over some areas with my black fountain pen. I love the resulting image, clearly more abstract than representational but still bearing a relationship to the thing observed. A more measured drawing might have looked more realistic but I think the blind drawing part of the process brings both honesty and energy to the result.
