You might recognise the post title as from a jazz standard (September in the Rain. Warren / Dubin. 1937). That’s by way of mentioning that I’m out playing jazz again this afternoon although that title isn’t on the list despite the fact that I found out last night that we’re going to be indoors rather than out in the garden due to the expected mid-afternoon precipitation. Instead we’ve got a crop of more optimistic tunes, such as Sunny Afternoon, Sunny, Sunny Side of the Street and So Nice (Summer Samba). The event is part of a charity fundraiser at The Chequers Inn in Berrick Salome, South Oxfordshire. The event runs from midday and you can get tickets from their site but I’m on with the band from 3-4pm.
I’m also out again tomorrow night at the regular jazz jam at The Red Lion in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell (7-9pm, free, bring an instrument if you fancy…).
