Since redecorating our “creative room”, which is where I do most of my computing, I have been using an old table top stretched across two cupboards as my primary work surface. It is spacious and makes good use of the materials we had but the surface was probably a couple of inches too high. That doesn’t sound like much but is ergonomically bad news; I don’t want to damage my back by working in a bad posture.
Today we popped up to Kidlington, mainly so Jane could visit Freelance Fabrics (which turned out to be a good place to get the various materials she was after). She then spent a long time browsing the nearby Sobell House charity shop. She came out with a tiny teapot for 95p and I discovered a small metal computer desk for the princely sum of £5.
That is amazing value! It isn’t a top quality piece but I would expect to pay ten times that price or more for a new one. It is an ideal size and a great find. All I have to do now is figure out how to rearrange my room to fit it in!
