Apparently efforts are having to be made to stop people stealing metal fixtures from historic memorials. Meanwhile, contractors need to tidy everything up at the end of the day, rail journeys can sometimes be delayed because someone spotted that train tracks and fittings have lots of metal in them and churches are often sitting targets from people who probably aren’t the same ones who sit inside the buildings and get to watch the damage caused by the ingress of water once lead flashing is removed.
It beggars belief and so I thought it was worth signing the e-petition on the Government website calling for a requirement for scrap metal transactions to be conducted in a way that leaves more of a trail than the cashless paths that seem to be making it an easy crime. If you agree that something needs to be done, then you could do worse than signing here.
