Not my greatest shot ever but I did not want to upset this young visitor to the garden by backing him in to a more picturesque corner of the garden. I think it must have been one of his first trips out of the nest. I first saw him when I was out watering the garden; he kept a distance away from my but hadn’t quite mastered the art of lift so did not fly out of the garden.
After I took this shot, he decided he had had enough and got a better run up to make his escape but hopefully he will return for more visits in the future. Jackdaws do form a bit of a bulky gang compared to sparrows but, so far at least, they have provided us entertainment rather than problems on their occasional landings.
