We have been enjoying watching the birds in our garden and am still not fed up with even the humble sparrow. However, the photo above shows a new experience for me — this family of sparrows sat on our fence while we enjoyed our breakfast outside earlier this week, with the mother darting in and out of one of our bird feeders to gather food for her chicks.

They stayed long enough for me to dash upstairs, grab my camera and get a few shots to choose from. However, while they had obviously decided we weren’t much of a threat they still hid when this fellow appeared swooping low in the skies above:
