I had an fascinating morning at work today with a visit to the neuropathology department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. It was in connection with one of the research projects my department is carrying out and I was using my experience of photography, imaging software and file formats to work with one of the pathologists and determine an optimum set of settings for capturing images of cells from a camera rigged up to a microscope.

Unfortunately those microscopes probably cost several thousand but I am looking forward to revisiting that part of the project!
