The Bones of Avalon

Sometimes authors fail to deliver when they write outside their established series (the Merrily Watkins novels in Rickman’s case). However, in The Bones of Avalon Rickman does a brilliant job, jumping back to Elizabethan times.

As with the Watkins series, there is a strong hint of supernatural mystery without falling into out an out fantasy. Dr Dee, an advisor to Queen Elizabeth (and based on a genuine historical personage), becomes involved in seeking out a mystery that is rumoured to go back to Arthur and Merlin.

I have no doubt that this deserves 5 / 5 and I will now be watching keenly for a return of either Rev. Watkins or Dr John Dee!
