Following some of the US-based blogs that offer free Kindle books is annoying. Titles come up that look interesting but they turn out to not be available in the UK. However, on a list I saw on Saturday, I realised that they were searching amazon.com for -public -breakthrough.
I don’t understand exactly what -public -breakthrough signifies but, following my intuition, it turns out that it also brings up relevant books on amazon.co.uk (just sort the results by price).
Perhaps I will start being a bit more selective when my collection gets larger but, although I am not downloading everything that is free, it seems a good way to build a wide-ranging library on the cheap. Who knows — it may even help me discover things I haven’t read before just like the good old bricks and mortar libraries do.
