I see that Bloglines is due to close on 1 October. I used that service about five years ago as my way into keeping up to date with an increasing list of blogs and other sites providing subscribable news feeds. I also spent some time exploring Rojo (the “reader with mojo”), that went under sometime ago, before eventually setting on Google Reader some time after setting up a Gmail account.

I had previously explored Google’s offering but found it a poor comparison to Bloglines but I think the latter was having a period of glitches and Google’s had become good enough that my temporary holiday turned into an extended stay. Part of me is sad though that the field is narrowed.
