One of my current projects outside is creating a planter from an old tyre. We already have several out in the garden that are just used in their natural state but I want to turn this one inside out, along the lines shown on this page about Blooming Tire Planters.
The benefits will be a taller planter which doesn’t look so much like an old tyre and doesn’t have a convenient hiding place for slugs and snails under the rim. The only hitch is that tyres are hard to turn inside out! I’ve cut away the sidewall on one side (using a serrated knife, lubricated with glycerine to ease its passage). However, after a short attempt, it was time for dinner so I will return to my rubber-wrangling another time.
