My favourite picture from September 2008 is the shot I took during the 7 Days series of some bass action. However, you have seen that before, so I present you with my second-favourite picture of the month.

I found this gnarly tree in the New Forest (on the same walk where I discovered the dung beetle I posted recently). I took several exposures using a tripod and had ideas about blending them together but, in the end, decided just to work on the colours and contrast of the strongest contender. The result is this study in orange and green which captures the wonderful fantasy of that ancient woodland.
