Just a short curiosity to pass on this morning – a Flash-based website that generates musical sequences based on a selection of notes and the first 10,000 digits of π (pi), cunningly entitled PI10K. 3.14159… and plenty more to follow.
It generally sounds very random but, depending on the choice of input notes, some interesting sequences occasionally pop up. The site is mainly for fun but I can see a few musical applications – for example, trying to play along to it or extracting portions of the “melody”, applying some rhythm and seeing if they could inspire new songs.
