For my favourite picture from May 2008 I have given into the temptation to choose some flowers. This Cytisus bloom gave me the opportunity to capture a striking image. I was particularly pleased with the contrast of soft and sharp areas and also the vivid colour of the flower against the muted background. Although I have been doing a lot more processing on many of my pictures, this one is straight out of the camera.

I think it was also memorable because the plant has a short flowering season that Jane and I look forward to with great anticipation. The blooms have now all gone although the seedpods and fresh leaves give it a different kind of beauty; I eagerly anticipate another chance to see it in its fullest glory next May.
