Adding to my collection of wine reviews, here are my reflections on a cheap fitou I recently picked up at the local Co-op:
Languedoc Roussillon Fitou 2005
27 January 2008 by Wulf Forrester-Barker
ReviewRating:
/5The fitou was, as expected, a rich dark red and had an aroma gently redolent of overgrown orchards, apples and brambles. It was a rough and unsubtle drink as might be expected from the price (on offer at £2.99) with the cidery taste that I appreciate in this type of wine. It is much more of a “peasant drink” than the previous fitou I wrote about (Fitou L’Exception 2005 Mont Tauch) but, nonetheless, one I would be happy to buy again at that price as a companion to robust winter food.
