I was recently given this wine, a Chilean red, by some friends; here is a brief review:
Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
11 January 2008 by Wulf Forrester-Barker
ReviewRating: /5
Pouring the wine into the glass, it was a dark burgundy red although not as strongly scented as I had expected. My main experience in tasting it was the dryness which did resolve into a rather unctuous velvet feeling but left the palette feeling coated rather than cleared. Regarding taste, cherry was the fruit flavour that came across most clearly. A reasonable wine but not one I would rush to sample again.
Having said that I would not go out of my way to purchase another bottle of Casillero del Diablo I am interested in trying some more Cabernet Sauvignons; it is a major grape variety and I would like to have a better gauge for it.
