Time to pick up the favourite pictures of 2006 series again. The same as May, last June saw me still thinking about preparations for my forthcoming return to the Camino de Santiago.
By this time, I had bought some new equipment for my journey, including a pair of walking sandals. My feet had held up well the previous year but towards the end of the week I started to suffer some problems because my walking boots were rubbing the back of my ankle. Since none of the section I was due to walk was particularly rugged, I had decided that walking sandals would be a good solution.
However, it would be unwise to venture on a journey like this with untried gear and so June saw me taking some walks to break them in.
This picture is from one of those walks, when I discovered the beautiful tranquility of Sydenham Hill Woods (read more about that journey from the posting I wrote at the time). I have several shots in my collection that show views looking up through leaf canopies but this is one of my favourites both for the composition of the photo and also the memories that go with it.
