Quite a few people I know from Selfsufficientish.com will be celebrating the Winter Solstice today, the shortest day of the year. I’m going to leave my celebrations until a few days later, when Christmas rolls around (and, even then, I will be thinking ahead to Easter, after which the purpose of the Jesus’ birth became much clearer).
It looks like the weather will be cold and overcast today (though setting things up well for those with parties tonight). However, one hopeful thing we can all remember is that even though today may be the shortest, darkest day, we are then starting on the journey that leads back to more light and warmth!
