I have just checked and it looks like I am getting the scoop on this one. Last night, representatives from the two main Hither Green websites (hithergreen.org.uk and myhithergreen.co.uk) met for Christmas drinks and a chance to build good relationships.
As a result, the two sites will begin to work more closely together. The one I have been an active member of, hithergreen.org.uk, will concentrate on providing an interactive forum while myhithergreen.co.uk will major on capturing local news and building up a library of video clips (Hither Green TV) documenting local life.
I think that is all good news because everybody wins. Rather than unnecessary competition, the two sites will complement each other and, between them, hopefully draw in an increasing range of local participation. More participation gives a stronger local community and that will benefit even those who have never been online. I am sure there will be more news and discussion about this across both of the sites but am pleased to get there first with my blog!
