I’ve read another book by Jeffrey Deaver, The Bone Collector. I’d been a little disappointed with The Empty Chair but found this one much better. It still had its fair share of unexpected twists but not so much as the latter novel; I think I’ll definitely be looking for the rest of his Lincoln Rhyme books over the next few months and might also dip into some of his other volumes.

It will be interesting to piece together the whole Rhyme saga, not just in terms of character development but also writing style. Was The Empty Chair a blip or do they get more and more strident in shouting out sudden changes?
