Church Marketing Sucks had an interesting link today; a church that has “purge Sundays”. CanadianChristians.com has written about The Meeting House, which offers regular challenges to their congregation to either get fully involved or to move to a different church where they will find it more easy for them to live up to their Christian responsibilities.

Obviously, there needs to be some care in how this is done. You don’t want to overload the already busy, “bruise the broken reed” (see my earlier post), or drive out those who are still seeking faith rather than being in a position where they should be living it out. However, it does resonate well with Revelation 3:16: those who are called as Christians are not called to be lukewarm in their commitment!
