Jane and I decided to pop up to Nottingham today. We wanted to see what Windblowers had left in stock before it closes down at the end of the month (sadly, not a lot so that’s probably our last visit) and also browsed through a few other shops and the Nottingham Contemporary gallery. We also got some refreshments: a light lunch at the Hungry Pumpkin and tea at Biscuit and Brew. Both were excellent but I particularly enjoyed the presentation at the latter. Jane and I both went for flavoured rooibos teas, which each came in a clear teapot so you could see how it was infusing.
For transport, we decided to use the free park and ride at Clifton and get into town on the tram. I’m not sure how the cost of driving partway and tramming it compares to driving further up and parking but it was nice to avoid the stresses of navigating near the city centre and either being under the time constraint of a meter or parking so far away that you’ve got a long walk to endure when you’re ready to return home. A ‘group’ ticket gave us a small reduction compared to individual day passes and would have been even more value if we’d worked out things to visit around various stops along the lines.
And, for us, tram travel is still a bit of a novelty. All in all, an excellent day out.
