We haven’t been using our new deep fat fryer every day. So far we’ve done crisps (much tastier than the microwave version; I need to see if I can refine and speed up the process) and oven chips (much better than cooking them in the oven; must try starting with raw potatoes). Our third experiment was doughnuts, with a dough I started last night.

It certainly isn’t the most healthy breakfast nor one I’d want to repeat too often but it was quite tasty. The recipe could do with a bit of refinement to add some more flavour and, being a small fryer, we could only do one ring at once or a couple of the holes from the centre of the rings. I could also do with rolling them out thinner to make the final product more bite-sized. However, a worthwhile experiment.
