In normal years we would hold an act of remembrance for those who have died in war at the church this coming Sunday. In my local area, there would almost certainly have been an additional ceremony on the village green in the afternoon around the new memorial stone that was unveiled on VJ Day earlier this year.

With the new lockdown in force, neither of those things will happen in person but I’ve put together a short video to go a little way to bridging the gap. I filmed the service held last Tuesday and I’ve added in a Last Post and Reveille from our worship team’s trumpeter and some photos of a wreath being laid on the stone and other memorials in the area (taken on Wednesday).

It won’t be the same as standing shoulder to shoulder with a community but we will remember them.
