Has double glazing been the death of carol singing? People tend to have better sound insulation and plenty of noise generating devices, which might be part of the reason why carol singing doesn’t seem to be such a strong tradition any more. I went out with a group from church tonight though, to a couple of local residential homes and for a short burst of impromptu singing outside for people at the nearby bus stop, anyone passing and anyone without an over-insulated house and the TV on too loud.
More carols tomorrow – the last afternoon rehearsal for the choir and then the candlelit service at the evening (6:30pm at St Clement’s). All welcome for the service – and mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.
