Mid-July through August and into early September is the most colourful time in our garden. Long-term stalwarts like Spheralcea are joined by a selection of perennial blooms like Echinacea and Rudbeckia in an array of vivid colours. Autumn is coming on though – you can see the teasels have turned already and I need to get round to harvesting the red crab apples from the ‘John Downie’ tree in the centre before they all drop and rot on the ground.
