I did break out the double bass in the end for the gig at the Donnington Community Music Festival (near Donnington Bridge, Oxford) on Saturday. I think the combination of taking my fretless six string to rehearsals while keeping the upright bass out at home to practise on is working out well. It was also nice having a large enough room to be able to get the bass out and store the case without making the place feel cluttered.

Gig-wise, it went very well especially given a few shifts in the line-up down to questions of availability. In particular, the risk of giving a debut to a new song paid off. I’m looking forward to gigging that one, Let the Tune Play, again soon. Details of the next gig (22 October, East Oxford Community Centre) to follow soon.
